About Us
Who are we and why did we start More than Medics?
More than Medics was born from a shared vision of two medical students, Yasmin and Martin, who realised throughout medical school that their passions and interests extended far beyond the hospital wards and patient consultations.
Today, 21% of UK medical students are exploring non-training clinical roles, and another 21% are considering careers in Consulting, MedTech, Policy, Academia, and Entrepreneurship.
However, venturing outside of the conventional path seemed daunting, with limited guidance and access to opportunities, often relying on the luck of personal connections or university promotion.
Determined to create a solution to this barrier, they established More than Medics, a non-for-profit organisation dedicated to enhance access to diverse career opportunities, supporting medics in building holistic and dynamic career portfolios. By providing opportunities, resources, advice and connecting peers, More than Medics aims to empower today’s medics to shape tomorrow’s careers.
