🤔 What is the NHS CEP?
A free 12-month workforce development initiative empowering NHS staff to develop entrepreneurial skills through mentoring, workshops, and networking. It supports innovation in healthcare without leaving the NHS. It is completely free, can be done alongside your job, while giving you mentorship on the entrepreneurial method. This includes how to address a problem in healthcare, create a solution, how to pitch your idea and much more.
- Launched in 2016, the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme helps healthcare staff develop entrepreneurial skills to innovate within the NHS.
- In seven years, it has recruited over 1,200 clinical entrepreneurs, becoming the largest national workforce programme for clinical entrepreneurship globally.
Innovation Examples Supported by the Programme
- Health and fitness programmes
- AI and deep learning algorithms
- Robotic surgery innovations
- Mental health interventions
- Remote testing (eye, ear, blood)
- Other clinical or non clinical ideas

Eligibility and Requirements
Open to anyone in the NHS workforce, including clinical (e.g., doctors, nurses) and non-clinical staff (e.g., IT, admin, finance) as well as students training in healthcare roles. There are no specific academic or business prerequisites, but applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in healthcare innovation.
- Must be above 18 years.
- Deadline: 29th October at 6pm
- Start date: March 2025 where there’ll be a Big Pitch event in London.

How to Apply
- 1-Minute Video Pitch: Present a concise pitch on your innovation or idea.
- Research Your Idea: Show evidence of thorough research and market understanding.
- Motivation: Explain why you want to join the programme and your ambitions.
- Letters of Support: Upload two professional letters of support with your application.
- Scalability and Innovation: Highlight how your idea is innovative and scalable, addressing a clear healthcare problem.
- Impact on the NHS: Emphasise the value your idea could bring to the NHS.
- CEP Prep Sessions: Attend the prep sessions (recordings available at CEP Prep Sessions).
- Submit by 29 October 2024: Late applications will not be accepted.
